CBCF and CCS Merge

On behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), I am thrilled to announce that effective today, we have officially merged operations with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF).

Together, we are stronger.

Together, we will continue to fund world-class researchers to discover life-saving advances in prevention, diagnosis and treatment. We will leverage our broader scope to best support Canadians living with cancer and their families. Together, we can amplify the impact of every donor dollar.

Simply put, we are now better positioned to help people living with, and affected by, all cancers.

I would like to thank you - our donors, supporters, and volunteers - for your commitment to creating a future without cancer. Formerly CEO of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, I have been appointed President and CEO of the Canadian Cancer Society and I’m very excited about this powerful opportunity and the change it will make to improve the lives of Canadians. Thanks to you, we’ve seen dramatic improvements in all cancer survival rates since the 1940s. As well, investments in research by both CCS and CBCF have contributed to a 44 per cent improvement in breast cancer mortality rates since the mid-1980s. Our unified organization will increase our impact on the lives of Canadians living with breast cancer, while continuing to be the only national charity in Canada focusing on all types of cancer. Our commitment to fund life-saving research and vital support services and to provide critical information for Canadians affected by all cancers remains our priority. Thank you again for your continued support. I invite you to stay up-to-date during this exciting time by visiting www.cancer.ca and signing up for our monthly newsletter. For more information, please read our recent press release. If you have any questions, please contact us at donorservices@cancer.ca or 1-800-268-8874. Sincerely, Lynne Hudson President and CEO Canadian Cancer Society
