Diane Harrington Diane spent early years on a farm at Steele Bridge near Gladstone, Manitoba. Married Bob July 1, 1967. Bob was killed in a motor vehicle collision in 1994. After spending seven years in northern Manitoba, the family moved to Basswood Manitoba in 1978. Diane was diagnosed with breast cancer January 1979. Lumpectomy surgery and a year of Chemotherapy followed. There was no family history of the disease. Daughters Jill and Karen were ages 10 and 7 at that time. As adults, both daughters take “get a mammogram” very seriously. Jill lives in Ottawa and Karen, Jeff, Kate & Grace live in Winnipeg. Incentive to take trips to Ottawa and Winnipeg. A lot of fun time spent with the granddaughters. 2016 Diane retired after 30 years work at Minnedosa Health Centre. 2018 after 39 years living in Basswood, a move was made to Brandon. A few interests are updating the Family tree and gardening (especially visiting greenhouses in spring). Joining the Waves of Hope Dragon boat team has been good incentive to get more exercise, keep a positive attitude and outlook. The team offers support and friendship. The team also promotes early detection of breast cancer and life after breast cancer
