I was born in Carberry, grew up on a farm, moved to Carberry in 1962. I married Wally in 1968 and moved from Winnipeg to Rivers. In the next few years we lived in Brandon, Boissevain, Virden, returned to Brandon and now resides in Onanole.
Wally was employed by Manitoba Hydro and I worked in the school system. We have 3 children, daughter Tara and Cyril in Minnedosa, son Sean and Brandy in Brandon and daughter Erin and Brad in Winnipeg. They have 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Many good times with lots of laughter are spent with family.
In 1991 I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I had 20 radiation treatments in Winnipeg. After receiving a clean bill of health I returned to work at King George School in Brandon. I retired in December 2005. In 2008 we moved to Onanole.
In March 2010 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, followed by a mastectomy. Within a month of surgery I was back running and continuing with my activities which include hiking, biking, curling, cross-country skiing, going to the gym, canoeing, golfing and most recently kayaking.
I joined Waves of Hope in August 2010 and was able to participate in a dragon boat festival in September. The team offers tremendous support, friendship, advice with loads of laughter. I love the challenge of paddling and time spent with the team.
Lots of good times with Waves.
Favorite pass time, running, kayaking, paddling, biking, trying not to injure myself on rebounder. Favorite drink, white wine, food really good chocolate, salads I make with everything in them.
